Very rare true first edition of this beloved novel. Jacket now protected in new (removable) archival sleeve but with rubbing/scuffing to faces and wear around the edges - including chipping, creasing and small tears, especially to corners and spine ends. Boards are straight and clean but with corners bumped and spine ends softened. Binding is firm and spine remains fairly straight. Six pen (pencil?) streaks along bottom outer edge of text block. Some soiling towards outer edges of pages, the worst of which is shown in last photo. No writing inside or out.
