The extremely popular isopod for poison dart frog enclosures and other active setups because they are so small and eat only detritus. They make magnificent cleanup crews for terrariums, in indoor greenhouses and vivariums. This species does not tend to ever be seen eating live plant material. Favoring only dead matter.
A borrowing isopod, they have a skittish, shy temperament. Not likely to attack anything living in enclosures and are not often seen above ground.
They are good food sources for really small amphibians/very young small reptiles because of their size. They are very rich in calcium.
