More information about FINAL DAY!! ACCEPT REASONABLE OFFER- ORIGINAL WW2 Portrait, Albert Lake, 1944

RARE 1944 Pencil and Charcoal Portrait of P.F.C. Marvin Ligon by renowned artist Albert Lake. Albert Lockhart Lake (1903-1990) was born in Massachusetts and was an artist known for his portrait dignitaries, sculptures and landscape paintings.

Lake developed his skill at portraiture under the tutelage of Frank Waldo Murray, an associate of portraitist John Singer Sargent.

As part of the U.S.O. Camp Shows during WW2, which served to entertain troops and boost morale, Lake drew portraits of distinguished soldiers. This original portrait measures 12.5" wide, 15.75" long and 1" deep. It is held within a lovely antique gilt wood carved frame. It has a few chips, as pictured, but this does not detract from its integrity and beauty.

fabulous piece of history to add to a gallery wall or to proudly display as a fellow American, grateful for the sacrifices and dedication to serve our country during WW2.
